Lightmare and Odin’s Rage watches

The Odin’s Rage (at the left) and Lightmare watches (below) are really cool LED watches with an innovative method for telling the time.

Similar to an analog watch, the large inner circle represents the hour hand on a dial, and the small outer circle represents the minute hand. The minutes in-between are represented by the four led dots in the center. It’s a novel, yet totally sleek and sophisticated approach to a watch. Also, the lights stay off until you push the button on the side, so it just looks like a plain black face until then.

The Odin’s Rage, also available in all black, has a smaller circular face, while the Lightmare has a bigger face that’s integrated into the thick rubber band. It’s definitely a more casual, almost rockstar-looking watch.

Cards and buttons with designs made from electrical symbols

transistor-npn.gifAll the designs on these cards and buttons have been created entirely from electrical symbols. This symbol at the left, for instance, is that of an NPN transistor.

Here are the three sets of buttons, a Hanukkah-themed one, a Christmas set, and a generic “winter” set.

This set of blank greeting cards features snowflakes created from dozens of symbols arranged to form intricate, crystal-like patterns. While it’s more difficult to identify the symbols used in the smaller snowflakes in the background, in the large one at the front you can clearly make out a few symbols, like the ground (or “earth) symbols at each of the tips.

Your music sucks!

With the overabundance of music now available to the general public via Myspace pages, amateur podcasts, iPod nights at bars, and intuitive music creation software, there’s bound to be a higher percentage of less-than-genius tracks in the audiosphere. But that doesn’t mean you have to suffer through any more minutes of dreck than you can tolerate. Just wear this “Your Beats are Weak” t-shirt or tank proudly and let the world know that you have very, very high standards.

Pretty green resistor jewelry

The Green Resistor Triplets Necklace that we first previewed during the shopping parties we appeared at in October was a hit with our visitors–many of whom didn’t even realize that it was made from resistors. Besides it being quite pretty, it features some ingenious functional details, like hand-formed figure-eight jump rings where the chain drops attach, so that the chains don’t get tangled when you wear it.

The matching Green Resistor Triplets Earrings are a nice complement to the necklace, but also are cute earrings on their own.

Circuitboard smoking-accessory type cases

This Circuitboard Cigar Case holds two cigars, or a bunch of DS games, USB portable drives, memory cards, or any array of similarly small nerdy things.

With the Circuitboard Cigarette Case store nine cigarettes, or use it as a circuitboard wallet instead. Just put a stack of cards on the side with the elastic, and put receipts or bill on top, and then fold over the top (Or, if you just need a simple circuitboard money clip, we have that too.).

With either type of case and application you choose, you can then pick from green (shown), blue, or red.

Diode Jewelry: Multiple Diode Necklace, Diode Chain Necklace, and Diode Earrings

Posted by Liz | Fractalspin News & Stuff | Sunday 19 November 2006 2:46 pm

Wow. This is quite a stunning necklace, and it’s easy to overlook the fact that it’s made entirely from diodes. For the less-circuit-savvy, diodes are eletronic components that only allow current to flow in one direction, sort of like valves. This necklace is made from diodes of three different voltages: 1 volt, 3 volt, and 6 volt, hence the differing sizes.

The Diode Chain Necklace is made from 3 volt diodes, but in a simpler, just as elegant manner. it’s available in three different lengths, 18″, 24″, and 36″, so you can choose what works with your outfit.

And to match either necklace there’s the Diode Earrings–minimal drop earrings that resemble black beads until you get a closer look. These would make a great stocking-stuffer type gift for a geeky girl or the funky-fashion obsessed.

Electronic Musician’s Emergency Adapters

Posted by Liz | Fractalspin News & Stuff | Sunday 19 November 2006 1:52 am

Few moments are more stressful and panic-filled that when an electronic musician fears that he or she might have to resort to impromptu beatboxing because a venue’s sound gear can’t accomodate the musician’s output cables. To make it worse, hardly any adapter-selling stores are open late at night when most musicians perform.

A preventative measure for those panic attacks is carrying the Electronic Musician’s Emergency Adapters–a set of audio adapters specifically chosen to help musicians solve their acoustic issues. Not unsurprisingly, the bag resembles a first aid kit.

Microcontroller Tie Tack

To match the Microcontroller Cufflinks, both regular and rectangular, there’s now a Microcontroller Tie Tack. Combining it with either of the cufflinks would make a great gift for a geeky guy.

Caffeine Jewelry! Woo!

Dear Caffeine,

Without you we would not be complete. You make sure we wake up and get out the door, speed up our code debugging, avoid on-the-job napping, help us dance until the wee hours, and then assist our painkillers in making sure our hangovers don’t floor us the next day. We love you caffeine, and hold you close to our hearts. Literally.

Well, we can wear the caffeine molecule as a necklace, anyway. Or earrings. Either way, it’s now possible to show the world your love of the world’s most popular psychoactive substance, cast in sterling silver.
