Fractalspin was started back in 2003 by Liz McLean Knight to sell some nerdy jewelry (starting with Liz's own line, Zelle), kickass innovative electronic music, music accessories & toys, amusing tshirts, and neat gadgets that made our daily lives more efficient, entertaining, stylish, worthwhile or any combination of the above.

We like to think of Fractalspin as a pretty cool geek boutique. Here you'll find all sorts of geeky fashion accessories and lifestyle products that aren't lame. Sure there are other geek suppliers online, but we're unique in that we hand pick only those items that are stylish and hip, steering clear of everything cheesy, dorky, or in just plain bad taste. And because of that, it's not just those fashionable geeks in love with us--we appeal to visual artists, musicians, new media artisans, crafty & creative / DIY types, filmmakers, hipsters, nerdsters, technologists, the cool kids, and tons more humans with great taste.

Liz McLean Knight
Liz is the one who came up with the idea for the store and finds the neat stuff to unleash upon the world. She also does the graphic design and tweaks code and does marketing and PR and that sort of thing. She is a big fan of electronic music (she makes music and DJs), and a huge fan of and proponent of technology, both music-related and otherwise. She likely spends 8-15 hours behind some kind of computer screen, but she has a sense of humor and a huge collection of silly photos collected from years blipping around the intertronz, and has witnessed firsthand the germination of many a meme.

Andrea makes sure jewelry gets made, and helps our freelance crafters get all the stuff they need. She moved to Chicago from St. Louis, MO to be a professional ballroom dancer and has helped many couples learn the dances for their weddings.

Heather helps us assemble things and get orders out, and when it's busy she helps run errands. She is a performance artist, video artist, painter, teacher, diva, and probably the coolest mom ever. She also loves holistic living and organic everything.
