Pretty much everyone is familiar with optical microscopes--instruments that use refractive lenses to focus light so it's visible--but they're particularly important in the fields of biology, geology, and integrated circuit manufacturing. Each of them also has a clear stopper to prevent them from unintentionally slipping out of your ear.
