[Fractalspin New Stuff] Nintendo Wii Controller Gum
As if things couldn't get any better than our adorable and popular Super Mario Brothers Mushroom Candy and our imitation retro-controller Nintendo Power Mints, behold our motion sensor powered Wii Controller gum tins that are pretty much the same size as the real ones, but lacking the ever-important safety strap. After you've finished off the peppermint gum you can use the case to store useful things like pens, DS cartridges, memory cards, ball bearings, or any small thing you need to tote around inside a Nintendo controller.
If you're feeling of a particularly DIY spirit you can attempt to mod the case into something useful like a toothbrush timer, pre amp, actual remote control, or any of the other projects featured over at Make Magazine (we heart Make!).
Did you know we have stuff at Fractalspin that's 100% free? Thanks to the power of the intertubes we have free downloadable products for your enjoyment like the nerdily-cute paper robot Mandelbot and our awesome electronic music compliation,Teh Choons.
Win a pair of flower Budclicks! Just answer this question: "Which person inspired us to create Mandelbot and why?" The first two correct responses sent to admin(at)fractalspin.com will get their very own pair of Budclicks.
Good luck!

Mario mushroom candy (no, not mushroom flavored candy--ick)
No,
not “mushroom candy”–candy that tasted
like mushrooms would be pretty gag-inducing. We’re talking
about candy that comes in a Super Mario Brothers-style mushroom. Once
you’re done with the candy you can use the mushroom part to
store a collection of small things. Check them out: Super
Mario Brothers Mushroom Candy
Have you seen our
other Nintendo-related candies with reusable containers, like the Nintendo
Power Mints and Game
Boy Advance
Candy?
While we're on the
subject, here are some interesting things on the internet
related to Super Mario Bros:
What are your favorite Super
Mario Brothers-related things on the internet? Drop a line to
liz@fractalspin.com and I'll add your suggestions to a blog post.
Enjoy,

Who are the most geek chic? Tell your list of guys and girls!
If you love Fractalspin, then you're likely a connoisseur of geek chic. Those of us who combine geekery with personal style usually have a running list of people we admire, even if it’s not on a conscious level.
So pause for a moment and think about it. In your opinion, who are the “role models” for Geek Chic? If there was a top ten list for geekily cool celebrities, who would be on it?
Add your picks: The most geek chic girls | The most geek chic guys
Sure, even the label is open for debate, but here's a few ideas:
Guys: Kevin Rose from Digg, The Tenth Doctor from Doctor Who, Charlie Epps from Numb3rs.
Girls: Morgan Webb from G4, Xeni Jardin of Boing Boing, Chloe O'Brien from 24.
Have fun -- and a great weekend!

Not sure what to get mom? We've got some ideas!
[click: http://blog.fractalspin.com/news/zomg-what-to-get-mom]
Hi there!
So your mom can program in assembly? Or maybe she's just really into totally unique jewelry? Either way, we'll help you find a nice Mother's Day gift for her that she'll adore. For instance, check out these Estrogen Earrings featuring the estrogen molecule cast in sterling silver. There's also a matching necklace to complete the "feminine" look.
Your mom loves to travel? Why not get her a matching set of Circuit Board Luggage Tags? The bright red ones will make her suitcases stand out in a crowded baggage carousel so she can grab them quickly and get on with her trip. Pick up a matching Circuit Board Notebook so she can keep a journal of her journey and jot down notes. And surely she'll meet interesting fellow travelers along the way and want to stay in touch. A Circuit Board Business Card Case is just the thing to hold her calling cards.
She won't believe that the pretty teal "beads" on the Teal Triple Capacitor Necklace are actually real capacitors until she sees them up close. For the less-nerdy moms out there, just tell her to flip the package over so she can learn about how vital capacitors are in most electronics. And to complete the look, get her a pair of matching Teal Capacitor Earrings.
Most women have either a handbag or shoe addiction (or both!), so why not get your mom a cool purse? She'll flip when she sees the Diskette Handbag that has six real floppy disks on each side. And for nights on the town, she'll appreciate the use of duct tape in the Duct Tape Purse and Starburst Duct Tape Clutch. Remember when mom would put little notes in your lunch? Write her a note saying how great a mom she is, and then hide it in one of the pockets for her to find--it's totally sweet and it'll make up for all those times you forgot to call. :-)
Here's a few more of our choices for nice gifts for mom.
Take care,
Liz

fbxrd == $sale && new t-shirts && jewelry (one week only!);
Hey, our blog is a bit fbxrd--we lost a bunch of posts from February through April, but the main site is fine. Use the code fbxrd07 to get 15% off anything until April 27.
To uh, "celebrate," we made a bunch of gear that you can either wear proudly or use to mark things that are fbxrd.
And for those of you who own Dopamine Earrings, we now have the matching Dopamine Necklace! Cool, huh?
So while we're on the obscure internet phenomenon kick, we added the "laughing Quaker guy" to our t-shirt collection. You know, the HA! HA! guy.
More stuff is on the way, but if you want a discount you better grab some gear while it's on sale! Mother's day is coming up, you know...
Take care,
-Liz
ps:
f • bx • rd [fuh bux erd] -adjective:
